Friday, July 17

Today is Friday! That means last day of Chemistry this whole week! Yay!
We did another lab today. This one had dangerous chemicals!
This is what you need.

  • Potassium Iodide (2 grams)
  • Lead Nitrate (2 grams)
  • Water (50 mL)
  • Filter paper
  • Funnel
  • One Erlenmeyer Flask
  • One Beaker
Here is the procedure:
  1. Put the potassium iodide into the Erlenmeyer flask.
  2. Put the lead nitrate into the beaker.
  3. Pour 25 mL of water into the beaker and flask.
  4. Swirl to make sure the chemicals are completely dissolved.
  5. Pour the potassium iodine into the lead nitrate. The solution will turn yellow and form a precipitate.
  6. Fold the filter paper twice and put in the funnel.
  7. Pour as much solution as you can into the filter.
  8. Wait to filter out a bit.
  9. Pour out more. Wash with some water to get all the precipitate.
  10. When all the solution is in the funnel, come back the next day to see the result.
Weird thing:
