We did another lab today. This one had dangerous chemicals!
This is what you need.
- Potassium Iodide (2 grams)
- Lead Nitrate (2 grams)
- Water (50 mL)
- Filter paper
- Funnel
- One Erlenmeyer Flask
- One Beaker
Here is the procedure:
- Put the potassium iodide into the Erlenmeyer flask.
- Put the lead nitrate into the beaker.
- Pour 25 mL of water into the beaker and flask.
- Swirl to make sure the chemicals are completely dissolved.
- Pour the potassium iodine into the lead nitrate. The solution will turn yellow and form a precipitate.
- Fold the filter paper twice and put in the funnel.
- Pour as much solution as you can into the filter.
- Wait to filter out a bit.
- Pour out more. Wash with some water to get all the precipitate.
- When all the solution is in the funnel, come back the next day to see the result.
