Monday, August 10

Today, I had robotics camp. It was pretty fun.
There are three stations in the camp. I will describe them here.

  • Core Values
    • In Core Values, you learn about leadership and other core values.
    • You also pick the name of your group in this station. We are called the Furious 4
    • We also made a badge.
  • Project
    • In Project, you research and make a presentation about your topic. Ours was prosthetics.
  • Robot
    • Robot is pretty self-explanatory. You build a robot that can do a number of tasks.
    • The table we are using is called Body Forward. It was used in the competition in 2010.
    • It looks like this:

    • Here are all the things you have to do.
      • Push lever to move syringe (top left) to the base (bottom left)
      • Put eyes (in base) onto top half of body (center)
      • Put bone bridge (in base, right of lego logo) into leg bone (bottom center) and use it to kick the ball (next to leg) into goal (breen rectangle)
      • Put cast (blue, in base) onto broken bone (left of body)
      • Get white cells out of sringe and send them to the non-orange section right of the table.
      • The panels to the right of the ball will be randomly flipped. Flip the ones facing black either up or to the back.
      • Push the mechanical hand (middle top) to grab the patent before the other team does.
      • Get the cardiac patch (square in base) into the heart (top)
      • Put the pacemaker (gray with the pipe in base) with only the pipe in the heart.
      • Push the red button (right side of the board, left side of the gray brain).
      • Push the black button (bottom side of the brain) to open the blue door.
      • Push the medicine (top, slightly right) so that only the blues and whites go into the bucket
      • Put the bucket into the right side of table
      • Push the weight (blue. left side) up, but not with too much force.
      • Move the doctor (top left on compass) and biomedical engineer (bottom in green section) into the right section
      • Put the stint (gray rectangle in base) into the artery (red thing in top left corner)
It looks complicated, and it is. You have to do it all in 2 minutes and 15 seconds!
Heres a video of a perfect scoring team.

Weird thing;

  1. Very complicated. It took me 15 minutes to figure out where are the elements and what action should be taken on them :)
How many tasks did you finished successfully? How long did it take?
    Interesting...
